On 30 March the Arab Film Festival presents, in cooperation with CineNoord, the screening of the film 'Rafea: Solar Mama'. This documentary is preceded by a tasting of vegan Bedouin bites.
The Barefoot College
trains 30 illiterate women from different continents to become solar engineers. This training is held in India.
One of the women is the Bedouin
Rafea, who lives in an encampment on the border between Jordan and Iraq. Rafea grasps this opportunity to develop herself and to give her children a better future.
Her husband is not as eager as she is to follow the program, which puts her in an impossible dilemma: to go to India and never see her children again, or to stay behind with no prospect for a better life. Fortunately, her community is not so conservative as to ban cameras.
